William Shakespeare Henry IV, part II Learn how to fully appreciate the full range of sherry wines and brandies …. in Spanish Spanish plus... strong>Sherry Wines and Brandy de Jerez The one week intensive course, “Spanish with Sherry Wines and Brandy de Jerez”, is a fascinating blend of Spanish Language tuition combined with explanations and tastings to give an in-depth knowledge of the world of fino, oloroso, amontillado, palo cortado, manzanilla and Pedro Ximénez. The course consists of 3 hours Spanish language teaching each morning focussing upon the vocabulary and culture of our local wines followed by a full programme of guided visits and private afternoon tasting sessions conducted jointly by experts from the Consejos Reguladores de las Denominaciones de Origen Jerez-Xèrés-Sherry y Manzanilla and the Consejo Regulador de la Denominación Brandy Jerez. Spanish with Flamenco Jerez de la Frontera is one of the major original sources of flamenco and the history of the city is therefore very closely linked to the art form. Not in vain is the capital of sherry wines the city which has produced the greatest number of flamenco performers: from Tío Luis El de la Juliana, the first known flamenco singer in history, or Antonio Chacon, to present day artists such as José Mercé, Moaraíto, Paco Cepero, Gerardo Nuñez, Antonio El Pipa and a long etcetera. The highlight of the year comes each September with the Fiesta de la Bulería. his combination of Spanish Language and Flamenco Guitar or Dance sessions with prestigious local artists such as Manuel Lozano “El Carbonero”, Juan Parra or Maria del Mar Moreno, plus visits to symbolic flamenco sites around the city is undoubtedly the best way to achieve a true understanding of the flamenco spirit:
Teenage Summer Course The Teenage Summer Courses is designed for young people aged from 11 to 17 and is intended to improve oral communication skills in Spanish as well as recycling structures and vocabulary, combining group classroom sessions with a full programme of excursions (Sevilla, Cádiz, El Puerto de Santa María) in addition to a series of visits both in and around Jerez. The course has been designed to encourage conversation practice and to this end consists of three hours tuition each morning with native Spanish teachers followed after lunch by activities and visits to the nearby beaches of the Atlantic coast. Accommodation is with carefully chosen host families. |
